Avoiding and Managing Complications in Ceramic Restorations: Veneers, Crowns, Bridges, and Implants

Date: March 3, 2026

Time: 6:30 PM

Course Description:

Dental ceramics have become indispensable materials in contemporary restorative and esthetic dentistry due to their optical properties, chemical stability, and biocompatibility. Their ability to mimic natural enamel translucency while maintaining high compressive strength has significantly expanded treatment options for clinicians seeking longevity with highly esthetic restorations. However, despite their outstanding clinical performance, ceramic restorations are not free from complications. Failures such as chipping, debonding, marginal leakage, or fracture may occur due to a combination of material limitations, biomechanical factors, or technical inaccuracies. These issues can compromise esthetics, function, and patient satisfaction. Understanding the causes of these failures and implementing proper preventive and corrective protocols are essential for ensuring long-term clinical success. Therefore, clinicians must not only be proficient in material selection and step-by-step procedures but also prepared to identify, diagnose, and manage complications when they arise.
