About Dr. Kometas: Athas N. Kometas graduated with High Honors from the University of Florida College of Dentistry in 1986. He completed a US Navy GPR at Naval Hospital Great Lakes in 1987. The program Director of the GPR was a recently trained Maxillofacial Prosthodontist who emphasized Comprehensive Treatment Planning and Restoration. His final 3 years in the Navy were as Director, Branch Dental Clinic Sabana Seca, Puerto Rico. Dr. Kometas established a private practice in Miami, Florida from 1990 until 2000. In 2000 Dr. Kometas decided to relocate his family to Volusia County, and he has maintained a private practice in Daytona Beach Shores and Port Orange. He has been granted 4 patents and is the inventor of “The Occlusal Reduction Bur.”
